Treatment and planning

Treatment:

My music video will be a hybrid of both performance and an abstract narrative. My main goal is to represent my artist as a credible musician and to use my locations to convey juxtaposition between the open and symmetrical locations with the message of the song (being lied to). As well as this, the conflict between the natural locations used in my video and the urban and industrial locations I will also use. I will achieve this by having my artist playing an instrument in the performance element of the music video and using a variety of shot sizes and camera movement to show the locations in an effective way, I will use establishing shots to convey a sense of space in the music video, which will intentionally make my artist look insignificant, this will serve to subvert the masculine stereotype that men are powerful. As well as this, I want to use close up shots to show my artists emotions, this will also show my artists as credible. In addition to this, I will use camera movement to mirror the slow tempo of my artists’ song which will not only show the locations of my music video, it will also give my music video continuity as the movement will emphasize the beat.

To achieve the conflict between the natural locations I will use, and the urban and industrial locations I will feature in my music video, I have found locations such as a subway which looks gritty and urban as it is dirty looking and has been Graffitied, and an exterior location of a nature reserve with autumnal leaves on the ground, for this location I have taken inspiration from the City and Colour music video I analyzed in my third case study. This location will also serve to convey a feeling of an empty space, which I feel will link the music video to the lyrics.

The audience will be people from around 14 upwards, as the music is not explicit and the genre is acoustic which appeals to a wide audience.

Planning

1. Concept and story: This can be based on the lyrics of the song or an entirely different narrative that complements the mood and theme of the music

Shot 1: fade from black to a shot of mom driving, looking out the window, slow head turn forward as fades to next scene and shows IT WAS A GOOD DAY

Mom opens window and clicks entry door, close cut to button than fade into door opening, dog runs past the hall, Dog enters room and jumps on bed, low side angle, me getting up (dog wakes me up) cuts to desk, zoom in on Studio equipment, drinks cups.

Cuts to me JUST WAKING UP lip sync through the window as i turn my head, Cut to LOW ANGLE follow me through the door, Over the shoulder shot from the left top angle looking

Close up low angle shot me scrunching my face weird ( kinda odd) wiping eyes confused

(no barking)

Cut to slo mo medium show me walking out with chicken bucket wiping mouth,

Zooms out to ( finally got a call) ,throw bucket reach in for obnoxious phone call, click it and get in car , look around
